What is SAMHSA?

SAMHSA - or The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration - is the agency within the United States Department of Health and Human Services that spearheads the effort to advance the science and education surrounding behavioral health and efforts to treat it. SAMHSA’s mission is to reduce the impact of substance abuse and mental health conditions on the people of this nation.

Above all else, SAMHSA is one of the foremost leaders in the educational efforts of America’s substance abuse and mental health counselors and therapists. As an organization, we use them to better point us in the right direction on not only their programs, but in how they can help our patients that call in looking for qualified and experienced mental health or substance abuse professionals.

Through use of SAMHSA’s nationwide reach, we have access to some of the finest programs and campaigns the organization offers. Whether it’s behavioral health programs, such as The Office of Behavioral Health Equity (OBHE) or childhood trauma initiatives such as the National Child Traumatic Stress Initiative (NCTSI), SAMHSA offers valuable information and resources that provide a critical link to our need-based assessments and care recommendations.

It is our desire to ensure that you get the help you need, and with assets like SAMHSA, it helps to fulfill a need in communities nationwide. It allows us to get you the proper care practitioner, or to recommend and refer you to a program that is designed to fit your unique struggle, and tackle your specific problems with substance abuse or mental health-related conditions and disorders. Our primary focus is in you, the patient, and getting you the help you need. SAMHSA provides a powerful ally to make this happen.
